BROWN’S may now have ten branches across the country but this is the original and has remained hugely popular since first opening back in 1973.
Two doors up from the bar, the separate 110-seater restaurant is ideal for people watching, with windows opening on to the busy street.
On offer are starters including chicken liver and red onion tart (£6) and vegetarian creamy garlic mushrooms (£5.75).
Mains include the goat’s cheese crostini (£7.50); confit of duck with sweet cherries and mash (£13); braised lamb shank with new potatoes (£13.75); and succulent fillet steak (£17), while the dessert menu features chocolate brownies and sticky toffee pudding, both for £4.85.
Afternoon tea is also served from Monday to Friday.
