The Ginger Pig is the latest venture set up by husband and wife team, Ben and Pamela McKellar, of Gingerman Restaurant fame, continuing their philosophy of creating fresh, simply cooked, seasonal dishes in an environment as hearty as the food served.
This is a warm, friendly place with good, honest, traditional food with a modern twist. The restaurant offers great value dishes, with starters ranging in price from £4.50 to £6, including steak tartare, and Colchester oysters. Mains include beef, ale and root vegetable pie (£9.50) and Boyton Farm Tamworth pig with champ, perry and sage (£12.50). Desserts are all £5, spanning everything from steamed treacle pudding, to raspberry and white chocolate trifle.
