Typically English, unfussy food “like your mum used to make” is the promise of cafe bar Thirty Two – the new venture by chef Simon West.
After five years rustling up fryups at Graham’s in Brunswick Street West, Hove, Simon knows his breakfasts and Thirty Two’s morning menu includes options such as smoked haddock with poached eggs and homemade bubble and squeak and the “hangover cure” (poached eggs, grilled tomatos, bacon and toast, with a Bloody Mary after 10am).
But there’s more than just brekkies, with the daily menu also featuring starters and light meals like soup, quiche and burgers as well as wholesome, home-cooked fare like steak and Guinness pie and sausages and mash, plus roasts and cream teas.
The cafe-bar style, contemporary interior, with wooden floors, wood panelling and lots of plants and artwork is complemented by a comfy lounge area downstairs, complete with sofas, a toy box and books, which is available for functions.
