TIN DRUM

The granddaddy of David Radtke’s immensely successful chain of restaurants, the Tin Drum at Seven Dials opened back in 1998. Far from being usurped by other brances, the original Tin Drum is still at the top of its game, attracting culture-vultures, nine-to-fivers and parents eager to relax in the laidback, child-friendly atmosphere.

Officially, it’s a restaurant and bar but you can settle in with little more than a round of drinks. Still, it’s well worth checking out the menu, which includes the classic beef burger (£8.95), and salmon, lemon and dill fishcake (£8.25, or £9.25 with fries). There’s also a range of vegetarian options including the veggie burger (£8.25) and potato and courgette rosti (£7.50).
