Diners at The Madeira can look forward to something different to whet their appetites after the restaurant’s recent change of hands.
The standard “pub grub”, such as bangers and mash, has been replaced by a more “gastro” menu with plenty of steak varieties, including gammon and a minted leg of lamb steak, plus different styles of chicken dish and vegetarian lasagne.
Main courses start from £6.95, and desserts on offer include lemon tart with clotted cream and Italian chocolate fondant.
Now part of the Mitchells and Butler group, general manager Karl Jones says the emphasis is on high-quality fresh food and great service.
