ENGLISH’S OF BRIGHTON

As much a Brighton institution as the Royal Pavilion, this celebrated seafood restaurant and oyster bar is more than 60 years old and past diners have included Charlie Chaplin and Tony Blair.

The building – originally three fishermen’s cottages – is tucked away on the edge of East Street’s cobbled square and is gloriously decadent yet not too stuffy.

Oozing elegance and charm, the restaurant has six rooms, including a ground-floor dining area steeped in rich red velvet and, upstairs, three more dining rooms and the smaller Brazier room, which boast a plush, Edwardian ambience.

Fish lovers rate English’s restaurant highly and customers come from all over the country and beyond to sample the menu.
