A hugely elegant restaurant serving top-notch food, One Paston Place has won acclaim for its avant-garde take on modern European haute cuisine. But the restaurant has succeeded in disproving the notion that fine dining is frightening, with friendly waiting staff who are happy to help out if customers are unsure.
Head chef and proprietor Francesco Furriello has devised a seasonally influenced menu, using quality, locally-sourced ingredients (most fish, for instance, comes direct from Littlehampton), aiming to gently coax the natural flavours out of the food.
There are set two and three-course lunches from £16 per person, along side starters and mains from the a la carte menu. Typical examples might include seared salmon fillet with lemon and maize cannelloni (£18), and venison medallion with chianti sauce, served with glazed shallots and Tuscan kale (£20).
The dessert list features unusual treats, such as French toast and pineapple tarte tatin with rosemary ice cream (£8), and grand assiette of chocolate (£9).
There ars more than 80 wines to choose from, with prices beginning at £16 for a bottle of the house white.
