With its softly-lit red sign and gently-glowing windows, The Hungry Monk looks like a very tempting country pub. Except it isn’t a pub, it’s a restaurant – and a great one, too.
The former 14th-century flint cottage seems more like a dream home than a posh restaurant.
You can sit on a comfy sofa in front of a warm, roaring log fire in the lounge, before moving into one of the fire-lit dining rooms, decked out with antique furniture and oil paintings.
The three-course set menu (£32.95) includes the popular crispy duck with a side of sauce. Follow this with the legendary banoffi pie dessert, which the restaurant is known to have originally created.
