CASALINGO

Standing head and shoulders above the wash of Brighton’s Italian restaurants is Casalingo, where the food is exceptional, the ambience warm and the wine list impressive.

The restaurant’s menu of specials changes weekly, with all dishes made-to-order using fresh ingredients – from the herbs to the fish. Specials might include roasted sea bass with saffron potatoes, or half a fresh lobster tossed in spaghetti (prices are dependent on the weight and the season).

Although Casalingo specialises in pasta dishes, it also offers an array of amazing meat and fish dishes, including fillet steak for £15.50, seared halibut steak for £14.95, and veal medallions at £13.50.

If you’ve still got room, try a delicious dessert for £4.75, such as the speciality chocolate cheesecake or home-made fresh fruit pie.

The restaurant offers a daily set menu for £9.95 between 5pm and 7pm and there’s also a great selection of cocktails, wines and liqueurs.

If you’ve got something to celebrate, opt for the half-priced pasta offer (daily between 5pm and 7pm), then you can afford to splash out on a bottle of champagne, from between £29.95 and £49.95.
