CHOKDEE

Meaning good luck, this restaurant’s name comes from the people behind Sawadee Thai restaurant in St James’s Street, Kemp Town.

It’s an informal restaurant and cafe, serving afternoon tea and coffee, as well as an extensive Thai menu containing more than 100 dishes, both with fiery and delicate flavours.

The seafood selection is impressive and includes deep fried cod fillet in delicate curry spices and coconut milk (£6.95). You can also order mussels, squid and prawn dishes.

Curry-wise, Chokdee offers an opportunity to try something different. The kaeng masaman nuea is a mild beef curry, with peanuts and potatoes (£5.50), and kaend ped phed yang comprises duck in red curry with

tomatoes and pineapple (£6.50).

There’s a takeaway service, too.
