Food For Friends is as Brightonian as rock, deckchairs and pebbles. The vegetarian restaurant is something of an institution in the city and has many carnivores among its fans. Its aim is to provide vegetarian food which is not “just a load of old lentils”, using organic produce. It has also taken on board the growing trend towards veganism.
The food is kept healthy and affordable but the eatery also offers indulgent treats such as tasty afternoon teas, served daily from 3pm until 6pm.
The restaurant’s menu changes every few months but past starters have included tofu pockets (£5.45) and goat’s cheese tartlet £5.95).
If you’re feeling a little more peckish, try the gluten-free spicy Malaysian laksa with rice noodles (£8.95) or the snorkers– prime vegetarian sausages – with creamy roasted garlic mash (£8.95).
There’s also a range of side orders, salads, desserts and children’s dishes, and a takeaway service is available.
